My family has visited the New River for years, canoeing and fishing. We love it's beauty and tranquility. We hope to help preserve and protect the river, it's tributaries, and the wildlife for our future generations and others to enjoy.

HEY! GREAT SITE. KEEP THE HARD WORK GOING. FISHING DOWN HERE ON THE GULF IS STARTING TO REALLY TURN-ON. THE WATER TEMP IS DROPING TO ABOUT 78 DEG. FROM 72 DEG. TO 69-68 DEG. IS GOING TO BE AWESOME. THE BULL REDS ARE RUNNING NOW. SPECKELD TROUT WILL START WORKING UNDER THE BIRDS NOW THAT COOLER WEATHER IS HERE. FLOUNDER WILL START MOVING IN ABOUT A MONTH. EASY PICKINGS FOR THOSE WILLING TO FIND THE RIGHT SPOT. SOMEONE LET ME KNOW WHATS GOING ON IN YOUR WORLD.

We really like your site! We enjoy the mountain areas and have fished the New River. If you're ever in Eastern NC, stop by Stoney Creek Outfitters on Hwy. 11, Grifton NC and tell us some stores and leave some photos!

I appreciate your page. It is nice to have some local links available. Have you consider a link for fisherman to discuss how the fish are biting, what the condition of the river is, and the value of various baits???? Good luck!

Great page! Adding the maps will help those who are not familiar with the area. I grew up in Sparta in the 50's & 60's. My Dad and Floyd Crouse fished about all the streams in Alleghany County.

Nice page with a lot of good information. The reason I showed up here was from trying to get a certain identification on a fish a bunch of us spotted in the New River near Sparta. It was a three foot musky (muskie?).
